Williams Energy Connects Business with Connellsville CTC
The Challenge Program, Inc. – Connecting Business and Education. This small tag line is producing big results as our business partners focus on the next workforce generation. Through The Challenge Program, Inc. businesses can speak to students regarding the employment needs of their organization that exist right in the communities where these students are living.
Garrett, a 2017 Connellsville Area CTC graduate, has begun an 8-week temporary summer position with Williams Energy, located in Fayette County. In February of this year, Williams Energy spoke to the the students of Connellsville CTC and presented an overview of the organization, career paths and the characterisitcs Williams looks for in hiring future employees. Mario Crocetti, an employee of Williams Energy, is a 2007 TCP Attendance award winner and knows first hand that TCP award categories are characteristics businesses look for in their employees. Williams Energy also emphasized safety and integrity to the students.
Williams Energy took 8 interested students on a tour of their facilities in March. Three well prepared students were interviewed. On May 15th, Garrett was offered the position and began his 8 weeks on June 12th. He began at Shamrock Facility where he observed multiple work streams. He has since worked with the Maintenance Team assisting with instrument work and filter change-outs. Garrett’s next stop will be to work with the Compression Team for a 3-week rotation. He will assist with overhauls of engines and compressors. From there, he will be in Operations working at various stations.
