The Challenge Program, Inc. (TCP) is proud to announce a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development as part of Governor Tom Wolf’s manufacturing initiative – “Manufacturing Training-to-Career Program.”
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf
“Manufacturing PA supports Pennsylvania’s manufacturing community through strategic partnerships while emphasizing job training to career pathways.”
The Challenge Program, Inc. (TCP) will be building on the foundation of our school and business partnerships through a “PA Manufacturing Awareness Program”. TCP currently works with 18 manufacturing partners at 30 high schools and career and technology centers in Pennsylvania. This program will provide students in grades 10-12 the opportunity for increased awareness of the manufacturing industry and careers in manufacturing. To begin the execution of the grant in January 2021, TCP has established regional Manufacturing & Educator Advisory Groups to meet and guide programming throughout the duration of the grant.
At the beginning of the school year, The Challenge Program, Inc. asks students to consider a question, “Why Not Me?”, to motivate them to reach their highest potential. Students have reported that this simple query has caused them to reevaluate the relevancy of their education to future success. Through this generous grant from the PA DCED and our manufacturing partners, TCP will ask students, “Why Not Me in Manufacturing?”
We believe this question will lead more students to consider options in the field of manufacturing.
