This is a full-time, permanent position with The Challenge Program, Inc.
Organization: The Challenge Program is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build sustainable business/education partnerships while introducing students to careers in their communities. These partnerships contribute to workforce and economic development by motivating students to develop the solid work habits required to succeed in school and in their future careers. The organization currently operates in 110 schools in PA, OH, and WV.
The organization has been operating for 15 years. The Challenge Program has presented the program to over 600,000 students distributing over 4 million dollars to well-deserving high school students. Workforce Development and career readiness activities have resulted in real jobs for students.
Position Overview: The focus of the Program Development Manager is to maintain and foster existing school/business partnerships in Allegheny County while working as part of the development team to identify, pursue and close new business support for the organization. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Business Development.
This is a multi-faceted position, requiring the ability to balance the various components of the required tasks.
The Program Development Manager is expected to be a self-starter and team player, demonstrate initiative, creativity, and persistence (follow-up) with minimal supervision, communicate regularly with immediate supervisor and other staff members, dress in a professional manner and present a positive image as a representative of The Challenge Program, Inc.
The Program Development Manager is expected to present The Challenge Program in a school assembly, work with their business/school partnerships throughout the year to facilitate meaningful workforce activities, and effectively service, maintain and GROW their existing portfolio.
This position has a heavy daily travel schedule from September – December, and May-June often requiring leaving your base 1-2 hours before the start of business and arriving home after the close of business. Additionally, you may need to attend after-hours business functions.
This position also requires the flexibility during these periods of time to possibly cover a school outside of your territory.
Candidate should be able average to proficient with the following technology: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google Calendar and Drive, mobile phone technology, and social media postings.
Office is located in Pittsburgh.
Key Performance Objectives:
Under the direction of the Director of Business Development, this position will develop a fundraising plan giving special attention to high growth industries.
Secure business partners for new schools with a focus on schools requiring sponsors in Allegheny County.
Communicate program values in order to gain increase and maintain sponsorship.
Create, maintain and enhance relationships with business representatives, school officials and community stakeholders. Develop sponsorship initiatives including prospect identification, strategy and proposal development.
Facilitate workforce development activities among partnerships.
Develop and strengthen Business/Education Advisory Councils in designated territory .
Assist in compiling and maintaining accurate contact information in DonorPerfect (CRM)
Assist with promotion, marketing, and planning of program functions as needed.
Attend Networking functions and market the program throughout assigned territory.
Qualifications and Skills
BA/BS in business or marketing and at least three years of directly related experience such as sales or fundraising.
Three or more years of experience in the following: Fundraising, Marketing or Sales
Outstanding organizational skills.
Experience in developing new and existing relationships resulting in successful fundraising.
Self-motivated, flexible, willing to travel, work evenings and occasional weekends, as required.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with education and business leaders to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with information related to The Challenge Program, Inc.
Proven track record of creating and executing a development plan.
Present to a large group of students.
Fall /Winter (end of August-December)
Spring/Summer (can begin April/May-August)

Internships with us open the opportunity to join The Challenge Program, Inc. Young Professionals Group. We currently have a Young Professionals group in Johnstown and one in Pittsburgh.
Internships are available throughout the year and offer $8.00/hour.
